Calvary Pentecostal Schools of Ministry, Inc.

Today is the 50^th Founding Anniversary that we celebrate a rich history and the promise of a brighter future.  As we remember the cherished deeds of the past, let us not lose sight of the brilliant vision for tomorrow.

Our school started as Evangel Bible Institute at Basig, Mankayan, Benguet in 1967 under the former Taneg  Bethel Church.  Rev. John Binbinen as Principal  with  11  students. Among  them were now these  faithful and anointed servants of God –   Rev. Elmer Pasig, Rev. John Pecsoy, Rev. John Miguel, the late Rev. Udante Libed, Ptra. Sylvia Gamosi, Sis. Estela Caba-ot, Sis. Tita Pacio and Sis. Martina Gomez.     The school operated for 1 school year only and was  moved to Talubin, Bontoc, Mt.Province with Rev. Albino Soriano as Principal. However, in 1969 due to change in Pastoral assignment it was decided that the Bible School and the students will be transferred at the Headquarters here in Tuding. The school then continued still bearing the name Evangel Bible Institute with Rev. Juan B. Soriano as Principal.

In 1970, the name Calvary Bible Institute was birthed a result of the Vision God has given to Rev. Donald Soriano during the Church Fellowship in Nacagang, Sagada, Mt. Province in February, 1970 wherein more than 70 young people arrived in Tuding  early of July, 1970  to enroll in  Bible School. Despite the limited facilities to accommodate the large number of students, the Calvary Bible Institute was started and for one year the students were housed in different homes of church members in Slide. God heard the prayers of His saints and provided funds for the building of the wooden dormitory  in 1971.  Rev.  Donald Soriano served as Principal with the late Rev. Jose Flores assisting for 3 years  afterwhich  Rev. Anita O. Gomaya started to help as the Executive Coordinator in 1973 until 2004.

From 1986 to 1988,  several branch schools were opened in;

• Talubin, Bontoc, Mt. Province – headed by Rev. Eugenio Capulas Jr., From 1984 to 1996 and re-opened in 1997 under Rev. Angelo Cayabas
•  Mayoyao, Ifugao – headed by Rev. Paulino and Carmen Sabelo;
• Manabo, Abra – headed by Rev. Miguel Pagada. (opened in 1983-1988, Bible School re-opened in 1994 under Rev. Apolinario Calizen up to the present)
• Pingkian, Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya – headed by Rev. Anastacio Ligmayo Known as Abundant Grace Bible Institute
•  Loay,  Bohol – headed  by Rev. Cecilio Balbin officially known as Harvest Time Bible Institute
• Cabadbaran, Agusan Del Norte – headed by Rev. Philip Gonzales
•  Balungao, Pangasinan – headed by  Rev. Willy and Leonila Navalta (1986 and moved to Umingan, Pangasinan in 1990.)
•  Pola, Oriental Mindoro – headed by Rev. Epafrodito Nanlabi
• Norala, South Cotabato – headed by Rev. Virgilio Nallos
• Surallah, South Cotabato – headed by Ptra. Feliza Mangonsay
• Katipunan, Zamboanga Del Norte – headed by Rev. Charlemagne Ferandos
• Dingras, Ilocos Norte – headed by Rev. Philip Ulangca from 1989-1992 known as Bethlehem School of Ministry.
• Santiago Center, Santiago City – headed by Rev. Raymundo Lengoyna officially known as Evangel Bible Institute
• Diego silang, Diffun, Quirino under Rev. Frankie Pinkihan for 1 S.Y.
• Luzong, Luba, Abra under Madam Alda Pinera which operated for about 2 years only.

1982 to 1992 – while our school operates as a One-year Training,  we sent our Bible College students to Maranatha Bible College located at Kennon Rd., Baguio City with Rev. Winfield Kelly as President ( to name a few are Sis. Bernadette Golejma Bangligan now based in Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya, Ptr. Ruffy Panaligan  now have his own ministry in Laguna , Bro. Zaldy Chee from Agusan Norte; Ptr. Edmund Arcamo who later opened a Bible School in Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte  and Ptr. Eddie Razon; who are still actively serving the Lord under  their own ministry.

1988 to 1998 – CBI changed name as Kingsway Bible College and Seminary Philippines at Tuding, Itogon, Benguet, our  International affiliation was based in Des Moines, Iowa. From 1997 to 2001, with the kind help and support from a Korean Missionary Rev. Ki, Jang Nam, BPEI was started using the facilities of  Tuding Assemblies of God Church. In 2001, the SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED. MINISTERIAL STUDIES was started to give opportunity for professionals or ministers who want to advance their studies through 2-weeks of rigid classes until  2010.  Facilities of  the Living Word Mission Center at Easter College Compound and also  Buyagan Calvary Church were used. During this time  many Pastors from the  Free Believers in Christ under Bishop Moises Chungalao  attended and have  earned their Theological Degrees. To name a few were Rev. William Guzman now have a ministry  called as Springs of Living Water; Rev. Delon Sabog now based in Canada, Rev. Patricio Lawaguey and several other pastors now handling their International branch churches in many Nations.

In  1999 Joshua Generals Bible Institute was started in Calew, Dalupirip, Itogon, Benguet  headed by  Rev. Andesa Bautista and God continues to sustain this ministry up to the present. In 2004, our old church in Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet was re-opened under the leadership of Rev. Daniel Soriano and started also the Bible School formerly called Calvary Missions Training Center now called Bethesda School of Theology.The same year in 2004 another branch school was opened in Mapaco-paco, Aguinaldo, Ifugao headed by Ptra. Gloria Bohingon Vergara which operated for almost 7 years. Due to lack of workers to manage the school it stopped for several years and resumed in 2011 at Namillangan, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao for 3 years and now based in Ubao, Aguinaldo, Ifugao headed by Ptra. Josie A. Mateo. In June, 2015, another branch school was opened in San Isidro, Ilagan, Isabela under the leadership of Ptra. Virgielyn Pascual Macalling .

By God’s help our Centers in Hongkong and Macau are now in their 6^th  year using the Video Bible School and Correspondence Course. This is designed and  intended for those working abroad but have the desire to continue learning the Word of God and earn a Degree  at their own available time and day-off from work. We also have a Fellowship Affiliated church in Sison, Pangasinan under Jesus Reigns Ministries under Rev. Jansen Balao who started a Video Bible School since 2015.

Our main Bible School located here at Tuding known as  Calvary Pentecostal Bible College continue to operate as a Three-year  Course  – with Rev. Agusto Dato as the Executive Coordinator from 1995 to 2009 and from 2010 up to the present  is Rev. Celia B. Soriano as the Principal.

We are proud  that many of the pioneer graduates have now  become good leaders and even have their own ministry or  organization and are also   training many young people and overseeing churches in many areas of the Philippines.

More than 9,000 students have finished their courses in  Bible Colleges, and 21 Bible Institutes all over the Philippines.More than 8,000 students have finished their courses in 8 Bible Colleges, and 21 Bible Institutes all over the Philippines.

We’ve come this far by faith and God has blessed our school. It is our prayer that they will preserve the ideals and dreams of those who labored for so long enduring many  hardships while working in this area of the Lord’s vineyard. Certainly, God has been our shield and strength. He has guided us with His counsel; blessed us by His providence and inspired us by His Spirit.
